Kopuur in Tielt has been led by specialists for two generations. We do not allow ourselves to be distracted by other activities, but focus solely on cable recycling. And we do so to the best of our ability.
That is why we continuously optimize our recycling process. We make it better, purer, and more environmentally friendly. Furthermore, we offer a container service and focus on scaling up. A new warehouse and two additional processing lines are excellent examples of this.

Our company has been in family hands for over 40 years. Until one day we decided to take a new board member on board: Mother Earth. From now on, she helps determine our strategy.

1981
Geert Debacker starts the sole proprietorship "Recyclage Geert Debacker" and begins dismantling and recycling transformers.
1982
Purchase of the first warehouse in the Tielt industrial park at Bevrijdingslaan 11.
1986
Purchase of the adjacent plot, resulting in a doubling of the land area.
1988
Purchase of the first cable processing line. A compact line.
1996
The sole proprietorship "Recyclage Geert Debacker" is dissolved and the private limited company "AZ Kabel" is established.
1998
Another plot is purchased to double the workable space.
2000
Another plot is purchased to double the workable space.
2012
The new construction project is finalized and a brand-new processing line is installed.
2021
Family transfer to the new generation. Geert Debacker passes the torch to his children, Tess and Wout.
2023
The name AZ Kabel changes to "Kopuur". A combination of "puur koper" (pure copper). A name that better encompasses the company's values.
