Your cable waste is worth a lot. For the environment too.

We do not only pay an accurately calculated price for cable waste, but we also sort and recycle it. This allows the copper and plastic to be reused. This represents significant added value for the circular economy and for the planet. Precious raw materials are no longer lost, and polluting copper extraction is reduced. Together, we are making the world a little cleaner.

  • 100% processing within Belgium
  • 80% of our pure copper goes to Belgian smelters
  • Processing up to 10 tons per hour

Our recycling process

  1. Everything starts with sorting

Every cable that arrives is manually inspected and sorted. Our sorters look for impurities such as tinned copper, plugs (which contain brass), aluminum, lead…

Thanks to this thorough sorting, we can primarily process pure copper (Class 1). If all cables were shredded without sorting, our end product would consist only of impure copper (Class 2).

  2. Pre-shredding

The sorted copper-bearing cables are placed into our pre-shredder using a crane, which can process up to 10 tons per hour. This shredder grinds the cables into coarse pieces of approximately 15 mm. Subsequently, dust is extracted from the mixture for the first time. The mixture then passes over a magnetic belt to remove any iron.

  3. Separation of copper and plastic

The copper is further processed on two separate lines: one for pure copper and one for impure copper. On these lines, the pre-shredded material is ground finer and the plastic is mechanically separated from the copper. For the impure copper, we apply an innovative treatment, allowing us to recover an additional 50% of pure copper that may have been overlooked during manual sorting.

  4. Reusable
    raw materials

After separation, two valuable raw materials remain: copper and plastic granulate. These materials can be reused in various industries.

    4

    Copper

The copper is classified into two grades:

    • Class 1: 100% pure copper
    • Class 2: At least 98.5% pure copper

Thanks to our thorough pre-sorting, no less than 80% of the copper we deliver is Class 1. In this way, we ensure that our recycling process is as efficient and sustainable as possible, with maximum recovery and minimal waste.

    Plastic

The plastic from the cable goes to a specialized recycling company in Belgium. There, the plastic is reused to manufacture new products.

We process everything ourselves in Belgium. 80% of our copper goes to Belgian smelters. 100% of our plastic goes to a recycling company in Belgium.

Our sustainability story

The win-win situation of our sorting process

Our sorting process is the most important step in our recycling process. It ensures that we can better calibrate our machines and process the cables more sustainably. This is because we separate cables with pure copper from cables with tinned copper, plugs, and other impurities. Thanks to sorting, we can therefore produce more pure copper that can be reused as a pure raw material. A win for us, but also a win for the environment.

Because we sort everything, we can naturally also offer a fair price for your cable scrap. This results in a win for you.

Did you know...

...that by using our container service, we can better sort and process the cables? Cables that arrive in large quantities via scrap dealers are impossible to sort. This is because the cables have already been handled multiple times with a crane, twisted, and pushed into a skip. You can compare this type of cable to one big pile of spaghetti. As a result, we can no longer extract pure copper from it, and all these cables are processed into impure copper (98.5% Cu). Cables that arrive via our container service are thrown in loosely, allowing our workers to separate and sort them again. So you don't just benefit from our smooth service or transparent prices; you contribute to more sustainable processing.
